Responding to the launch of the Levelling Up White Paper, Policy Chair at the City of London Corporation Catherine McGuinness said:

“We welcome the Levelling Up White Paper launched today and we look forward to working closely with the Government to support growth across the UK. It is important however that levelling up includes all parts of the UK, including London. The capital faces unique challenges and still has major inequalities, with 2.5 million people currently living in poverty.

“As the beating heart of the UK economy, London’s success benefits every corner of the United Kingdom. Through the City Corporation’s UK partnerships strategy, we are seeking to play our own part to increase inward investment to UK regions and build awareness of how London can act as a springboard for regional firms to export their products and services globally.

“It is also important to focus on levelling up within organisations, as well as regions. Allowing talented people to shine, unfettered by where they live or their socio-economic background, is vital to levelling up our society.”
