"Alderman Tim Hailes FKC JP today notified the Court of Aldermen of his withdrawal from consideration for election as Lord Mayor of the City of London for 2026/27.  

"As part of established succession planning for the Mayoralty, the Court of Aldermen have decided that Alderman Bronek Masojada, the candidate for 2027/28, will be supported for election to the Mayoralty in 2026/27. 

"The arrangements for the election of the next Lord Mayor will continue as planned, with the election taking place at Common Hall on Tuesday 29 September.  

“The Lord Mayor elect will be formally admitted into office on 13 November 2026.”
