New initiative launched to strengthen Square Mile diversity

The City of London Corporation has today [6 June] launched the City Belonging Project, an exciting new initiative to build a more inclusive and connected Square Mile.

The scheme – which launched with representatives from more than 160 of the City's leading organisations in attendance, including the Bank of England, Lloyds Banking Group, and Bloomberg – will support and improve the links between diversity networks and help ensure the City’s institutions and events are open to all communities.

The Square Mile has a rich tradition of people from all over the world coming to work, live and play. And the City Corporation now aims to build on this, creating a world-leading business environment where organisations and communities come together to promote diversity and inclusion for the benefit of all.

The City Belonging Project, along with its partners, will help ensure events, activities and spaces are more inclusive. And using its convening powers, the City Corporation will bring together groups and individuals from across the City to create and incubate new inter-company networks.

City of London Corporation Policy Chairman, Chris Hayward said:

“This scheme will cement London’s place as the premier destination to work, live and play - putting inclusion at the forefront as we welcome even more City workers back after the pandemic.

“Through the City Belonging Project we will continue to trailblaze the Square Mile as a global financial hub that is more than just a place to work, but a community where everyone belongs.”
