City of London Corporation statement on YouGov financial crash poll

Commenting on a YouGov poll issued today finding that the British public expect another global financial crisis in the next 12 months, Policy and Resources Chairman of the City of London Corporation, Mark Boleat, said:

“As a nation we have worked hard to avoid repeating the same situation that we faced in the financial crash of 2008. Reforming financial regulation in a sensible and practical manner has been the first step. This has improved accountability, helped drive up professional standards, increased competition and transparency and encouraged long term thinking. In addition, where we have always been clear in the City, is that the breaking of the rules have no place. Those who do should be met with tough sanctions and face legal proceedings for their actions.”
