Lord Mayor of London sends a message of condolence to the family of polar explorer Henry Worsley

Lord Mayor Jeffrey Mountevans sends a message of condolence to the family of polar explorer Henry Worsley, who died during an attempt to cross Antarctica.

“I am deeply saddened to hear of the tragic death of Henry Worsley. The grand scale and ambition of his expedition was matched by his human touch, which shone through in the updates that he posted during the course of his journey across the Antarctic.

“His work will continue to inspire people; particularly the men and women associated with the Endeavour Foundation. Our thoughts are with his family, his team and all others who work and live in the Antarctic.”

Jeffrey Mountevans is the 688th Lord Mayor of London. His grandfather, Edward Evans, was a friend of Ernest Shackleton and later was the second-in-command of Scott’s final Antarctic expedition.
