Letter to the Evening Standard: The Mayor’s proposals to tackle London's toxic air will reduce emissions and exposure to air pollution

[REF: Sadiq Khan's £10 pollution 'T-charge' for older cars added to London's congestion charge, Nic Cecil, Evening Standard, 05 July 2016]

The Mayor’s proposals to tackle the capital’s toxic air will be effective in reducing emissions and public exposure to air pollution.

We are assisting the Mayor by clamping down on idling engines, regulating City construction activity and using our planning powers to ensure new buildings are energy efficient and low emission.

Last year we agreed a deal with Addison Lee - London’s largest private hire firm - to go ‘electric only’ in key areas of the Square Mile and we have created a ‘City Air App’, which gives low pollution travel routes to over 15,000 Londoners.
