City of London Sheriff to attend Rendez-Vous de Septembre for the first time as part of its continued engagement with the insurance industry

Bronek Masojada will be the first sheriff from the City of London Corporation to attend the Rendez-Vous de Septembre (RVS) insurance conference. His attendance will seek to maintain momentum on the City’s  focused engagement with the (re)insurance industry following the successful attendance last year by the then Lord Mayor, Nicholas Lyons, who was the first ever City Corporation official to attend RVS.

Alongside Sheriff Bronek Masojada’s senior position at the City Corporation, he has held a number of senior insurance roles throughout his career including as MD and Chief Executive of Hiscox. He will meet with senior (re)insurance business leaders to understand views on the London Market and UK competitiveness more broadly. He will also promote the UK’s insurance market internationally, with specific focus on the specialisms of natural catastrophe, cyber, geopolitics, supply chain and AI risks.

The UK is the world’s largest commercial and specialist (re)insurance centre controlling $159bn of premiums annually.

His visit comes as the City Corporation announces its intention to explore hosting an Inaugural Global Risk Summit in May 2025. The event would aim to bring together international leaders in insurance, underwriting and brokerage, ultimate risk owners and buyers. The event is intended to act as a forum for  leading stakeholders to come together and engage on an increasingly uncertain environment, with fast-developing risks challenging many boardrooms around the globe.

Sheriff of London, Bronek Masojada, said:

“I’m delighted to be attending the Rendez-Vous de Septembre as part of the City of London Corporation’s ongoing engagement with the (re)insurance industry. As an international centre for risk transfer, the London Market provides a deep pool of capital, enabling it to deliver solutions to a wide variety of insurance needs. The City of London wants to support the global offer of the London Market for the benefit of all risk owners and managers.”

Policy Chairman of the City of London Corporation, Chris Hayward said:

“The City of London Corporation is committed to promoting the work of the UK insurance sector internationally. The London Market offers unparalleled reach operating in more than 200 countries worldwide and close to 70% of the London Market’s premium is sourced outside of the UK.

“In an increasingly uncertain world fraught with rising geopolitical tensions and fast-developing risks, the City of London Corporation is well placed to use our unique convening power to bring together international insurance and reinsurance leaders to discuss how best to adapt.”
