City of London response to Cycle Superhighways consultation

Responding to the release of the updated plans for the East-West Cycle Superhighway through the City of London, Planning & Transportation Chairman Michael Welbank said: The City of London Corporation is not opposed to the principle of Cycle Superhighways to achieve safe routes for cyclists. However we did have concerns over some aspects of the original proposals which severely reduced accessibility to some areas through the closure of a number of side road junctions and did impose delays and extra hazards for pedestrians. The revised plans improve on these concerns, but do not satisfy them entirely. Our primary concern, as ever, is for the safety of all road users, especially vulnerable cyclists and pedestrians.
