Speaking to the Court of Common Council, the City of London Corporation’s primary decision-making body, Policy Chairman, Chris Hayward, said today:

“I feel that I cannot begin this Policy Statement today, without acknowledging the tragic events that are taking place in the Middle East.

“I start by expressing solidarity with the people of Israel and condolences to those suffering at the hands of terrorism – none of us can condone innocent lives being lost.

“I also unequivocally condemn the recent attacks by Hamas terrorists in Israel.

“Finally, I want to affirm our unwavering commitment to supporting our friends, our staff and our people in all the communities we serve, and I am sure you will join me in praying for a lasting peace.”
