City of London Academy Islington receive “exceptional” A-level results

Students at City of London Academy Islington have been celebrating their exam results today.

They achieved a 51% pass rate at grades A* to B at A Level, and an overall pass rate across all A Level and BTEC courses of 97%.

Amongst the highest performing students was Selin Karaaslan, who achieved three A grades and one B grade at A Level and is going to Warwick University to study Law. Alice Paulton was also delighted to achieve top grades and secure her place at UCL to study Linguistics.

Headteacher of City of London Academy Islington, Sonia Jacob, said:

“Preparing for any exams requires a huge amount of dedication and hard work – and we are delighted for our students who have achieved exceptional results this year.

“This cohort experienced disruption during their GCSE studies owing to the pandemic.

“Consequently, this was their first experience of sitting secondary school examinations, but they faced the challenge with commendable resilience and determination.

“They fully deserve this success, and we wish them all the best in the next stage of their lives.”

Chair of the City of London Academies Trust Board, Catherine McGuinness, said:

“Our students should be delighted with their results today.

“The next stage of their lives is an exciting one. Whether they are now applying to university or seeking employment, we send them our warmest congratulations, and our immense gratitude to the academy’s teaching staff.”
