City of London Academy Islington celebrates GCSE results

City of London Academy Islington celebrates GCSE results

 

Students at City of London Academy Islington (CoLAI) are celebrating their GCSE results today.

 68% of the Year 11 students achieved English and mathematics GCSEs at grade 4 and above, with 48% achieving grade 5 and above.

Amongst the high achievers are:

Arwa Bekhti, Aaliyah Hussain, Jimmy Lyons and Safia Ali, who achieved grade 7 or above in all their subjects. 

Arwa achieved grade 9s in English language, English literature, Biology and French. 

Aaliyah achieved grade 9s in English literature, Biology, French, History and Geography.

Jimmy achieved grade 9s in biology and physics. 

And Safia Ali achieved grade 8s in English literature, Mathematics and Biology, Chemistry, and Physics.   

 CoLAI is a member of the City of London Academies Trust, which runs the City of London Corporation’s sponsored academies. 

 The City Corporation sponsors 10 Academies across Hackney, Newham, Islington, and Southwark.

 Headteacher of City of London Academy Islington, Sonia Jacob, said:

 “Our Year 11 students have achieved good results today.

 “Preparing for exams requires discipline and dedication and their high academic achievement is the result of hard work throughout the year.

 “I am proud of both our students and staff.”

 Chair of the City of London Academies Trust Board, Catherine McGuinness, said:

 “Our students and staff have worked very hard, and we congratulate them on the results.

“We wish all the Year 11 students the very best of luck on the next phase of their lives, whether staying with us for 6th form or moving on.

 “We hope that they will take away all that the values that the City of London Academies Trust and the school stands for.”
