City of London Academy Highbury Grove celebrates GCSE results
Pupils at City of London Academy Highbury Grove are celebrating their excellent GCSE results today (22/08).
Almost 60% achieved both English and Mathematics GCSE at Grade 4 and above (equivalent to A*-C grades).
The academy, previously Highbury Grove School, is a co-educational comprehensive secondary school for students aged 11 to 18 teaching both A-levels and BTEC courses.
Ofsted praised the school for its “swift” and “effective” improvements to teaching and pupil behaviour in its first inspection after it joined the City of London Academies Trust. The school was previously subject to special measures under its former leadership.
The City of London Academies Trust runs the City of London Corporation’s sole sponsored academies.
Clare Verga, Executive Principal of Highbury Grove said:
“These results are a testament to the hard work of students, staff and parents.
“I am very proud of all those who have been involved in this achievement and who have helped bring success back to this school.”
Andrew McMurtrie, Chair of the City of London Academies Trust, said:
“This is a fantastic achievement. Congratulations to all the students for achieving excellent GCSE results.
“We will always make sure that young Londoners of all backgrounds have access to the information, advice and experiences that help them to progress into fulfilling careers.
“We wish each and every pupil all the best and hope that the our core values stay with them for many years to come.”
