City Corporation welcomes return of Clifford Chance to the Square Mile

In a major boost for the City of London, international law firm Clifford Chance has committed to pre-let 321,100 square foot in a new building at 2 Aldermanbury Square EC2.

The firm will be returning to the Square Mile and anticipates moving to the new building to tie in with the expiry of its current lease at 10 Upper Bank Street in 2028.

Welcoming the announcement, Policy Chairman at the City of London Corporation, Chris Hayward, said:

“This is fantastic news and a vote of confidence in the City of London. As part of our ambitious Destination City programme, we are committed to reimagining the Square Mile as a world-leading destination for workers, visitors, and residents. We are transforming our leisure offer to ensure that people want to work in the City, as well as have fun and explore.”

Chairman of the City Corporation’s Planning and Transportation Committee, Shravan Joshi, said:

“We are delighted to welcome back Clifford Chance to the Square Mile. This is a reflection that our office market remains robust with strong demand from occupiers, investors and developers. The City has a unique concentration of high quality, sustainable office space together with unparalleled public transport connectivity and concentration of talent that underpins our offer.”
