City Corporation responds to the Department for International Trade’s announcement of a new trade deal with Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein

The Department for International Trade has today announced that it has secured a new trade deal with Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein covering £21billion of trade. Policy Chair at the City of London Corporation, Catherine McGuinness, said:

“We are delighted that UK, Norway and Liechtenstein negotiators have been able to secure a new trade deal, which will provide further certainty for businesses and households at a vital moment.

“This deal delivers the most comprehensive mobility commitments in a UK FTA. We are particularly pleased that it includes recognition for professional qualifications, which will enable investors to appoint the best talent for senior management roles without being limited by nationality and residency criteria.”

“We hope this deal lays the foundations for a collaborative future partnership, vital to addressing joint challenges and opportunities such as the digitisation of the economy and climate change.”
