City Corporation calls for bids from diverse architecture firms for the City’s Architecture Framework

The City of London Corporation is calling for a diverse range of architects to submit to its four-year Architectural Services Framework.

The Framework will consist of architects working in partnership with the City Corporation to deliver construction projects for sites it owns and/or manages.

Up to six teams will be appointed for each of the four lots within the £20-million framework and those successful will have the opportunity to work on a range of projects, from new homes to historic and conservation schemes.

The City Corporation is looking to foster a sense of partnership between the profession and the City by attracting architects who can bring innovative sustainable designs and broad artistic interests to construction projects.

The City Corporation is particularly welcoming of submissions from firms that reflect the diversity of the capital and is particularly encouraging small to medium sized enterprises that can deliver a personal service.

Keith Bottomley, Chairman of the Project Sub Committee at the City of London Corporation, said:

“The City of London Corporation is committed to a fair and inclusive society and dedicated to ensuring there is diversity across those firms appointed into the architectural framework positions.

“We would like to hear from architecture teams who can reflect the variety of backgrounds and perspectives of the Square Mile’s workers, residents and visitors.

“We are particularly interested in hearing from practices with strong sustainability credentials, consistent with the primary objectives of the draft City Plan 2036 and London Plan policies.”

The City of London Corporation manages office space, investment property, educational and cultural spaces as well as open spaces across London.

The four-year Architectural Services Framework will run from 2021.

The deadline for applications is 24 July.
