City Corporation appoints Whitehall comms chief Robert Hall as Executive Director of Communications and Engagement

- Executive Director of Communications and Engagement appointment underlines the importance of communications to Destination City – the City Corporation’s growth strategy – and its leading role in driving London’s and the UK’s economy by attracting businesses, workers, and visitors to the Square Mile.
Home Office Director of communications for the past four and a half years, and a long-standing member of the Government Communications Service, Hall has led Whitehall comms teams and advised ministers and senior officials on complex operational, policy, and crisis issues. His 23-year Civil Service career includes roles at the Northern Ireland Office, the Department for Transport, and UK Export Finance.
He will take overall responsibility for leading and developing the City Corporation’s external and internal communications functions to support delivery of the organisation’s Corporate Plan. The multi-skilled, in-house team both advocates for the City’s vital economic contribution to the UK economy and supports delivery of front-line services for millions of Londoners and visitors – including schools, policing and housing, as well as world class arts provision, cherished outdoor spaces and public amenities.
