They achieved a 45% pass rate at grades A* to B at A Level, and an overall pass rate of 99% across all A Levels, with a pass rate on BTEC courses of 100%.

The City of London Academy Islington is a member of the City of London Academies Trust, which runs the City of London Corporation’s sponsored academies.

The school was given an Outstanding rating following an Ofsted inspection in 2019.

The City Corporation sponsors ten high-performing academies across Hackney, Islington, Newham, and Southwark through the Trust. It is also the local education authority for one maintained primary school in the City of London, and the proprietor of four independent schools. Five out of 10 City of London Academies Trust schools hold an ‘outstanding’ Ofsted rating, and three are rated ‘good’ with ‘outstanding’ features.

Headteacher of City of London Academy Islington, Sonia Jacob, said:

“Our students and teachers have worked incredibly hard over the past two years to achieve these results and they should be proud of themselves.

“The whole school community is delighted for them, and we wish them the very best of luck in the next phase of their lives.”

Chair of the City of London Academies Trust Board, Catherine McGuinness, said:

“Congratulations to the City of London Academy Islington. Today marks an important step for our students, who have worked so hard to achieve these results.

“Our aim is to prepare them for bright futures with education that enriches and inspires, and we wish them every success.”
