Sir Roger Gifford appointed to chair a new UK Government Taskforce on Green Finance

Sir Roger Gifford, Chairman of the City of London Corporation’s Green Finance Initiative, has been appointed to chair a new UK Government Taskforce on Green Finance.

Sir Roger Gifford said:

“It’s a great privilege to chair the Green Finance Taskforce. The establishment of the taskforce shows that UK policymakers are prioritising the green agenda, and stimulating wider discussion about the opportunities and challenges associated with global green markets.

“Large-scale private investment will be needed to meet the huge demands on investment being created by the world’s transition towards a low-carbon economy. There is a real opportunity for the green finance sector to support and benefit from this fundamental economic change through greater international cooperation, such as greening the China-led infrastructure project, the Belt and Road Initiative.”

“These aims are very much shared with the City Corporation’s Green Finance Initiative, which promotes London and the UK as a leading global centre for green financial and professional services.”
